With the Grand Opening of Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel by YAM Tunku Idris Iskandar on 28 May 2013, Johor Bahru now has more exciting dining choices.

Cafe BLD is the cafe at the newly opened Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel. I am fortunate to visit this exciting new dining option in Johor Bahru twice recently, once at Renaissance JB's Grand Opening and again today during lunch at the invitation of Ervina. Two days, and yet not enough stomach space to try everything. All I could do was to eat to my heart's content, and the rest, I can only take photos and feast with my eyes only.

Inside Cafe BLD, everything is spanking new, squeaky clean, yet the decor is warm and has rich welcoming tones. Seating is comfortable and spacious at Cafe BLD.

The food is prepared on order in a central island, open concept kitchen - the first and only such kitchen in Johor Bahru at the moment. We can enjoy watching the chefs prepare our food :)

I went round and round the four sides and corners of this kitchen, hunting for the best food and photo opportunities. I seemed to discover new, interesting things with every round.

The seafood station during the Grand Opening - I tried only the oysters and they were plump and fresh. I could literally taste the sea - went two rounds on this one :P

Nasi-Goreng-Kampung-Johor-Bahru

Chef Foong is very proud of his signature Nasi Goreng Kampung. The prawns and scallops were fresh and well executed. The fried rice was savoury. That sunny side up quail egg was a interesting touch and the fried keropok were crispy and tasty. The nasi goreng kampung is served with a couple of sticks of satay. Available from the a la carte menu.

Satay-Johor-Bahru

I didn't take the satay - saving it for another day but from the looks, charred bits at the edges and the meat grilled to golden brown, they must be delicious.

I stayed here on business in October. The room was nice. The bathroom had a big shower, and. Nice free complimentary soaps and such. Hotel staff was friendly and helpful.. The location is in a not so great area, I hate to say it, but it's in sort of a nasty part of town. Other than that, just great.

Dear Daniel, We thank you for taking the time to review us on TripAdvisor. It means a lot to us and we're so thankful that you had a wonderful stay at the hotel. We believe that no matter where or why you travel, there's always something wonderfully new to be found and I hope you will be able to discover... More

NUSAJAYA: Johor will have 13,360 three-star hotel rooms next year to meet the needs of the state's growing tourism industry, said State Tourism, Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman, Datuk Tee Siew Kiong.

"Currently, the state has only 12,500 hotel rooms of three stars and above. The increase in the number of rooms is in line with the construction of many hotels this year and next," he said.

Tee said this in reply to questions by Hamimah Mansor (BN-Penawar) and Dr Zaini Abu Bakar (BN-Nusajaya) at the state Legislative Assembly today.

He said based on Tourism Malaysia survey, the number of tourists who stayed overnight in Johor last year was over five million from 3.95 million in 2012.

Tee said the state government adopted comprehensive measures to encourage the tourists to stay longer in the state.

"The state's Tourism Department, together with the private sector, planned various international-level programmes to encourage them to stay longer in the state," he said.-Bernama

I am Lucas... the one and only: Renaissance Johor Bahru Hotel

Hello guys! I've gone on a vacation recently to JB and Singapore. I guess some of you should know from my instagram posts. During my stay at JB, I got the opportunity to try out the buffet dinner at the newly opened hotel called Renaissance Hotel. It's really really nice compared to all other hotels in JB. I've always got this thought that the hotels in JB are kinda "dirty", in a superstitious way lah cos they're old and got this weird smell when you enter the hotel lolol... I think this hotel is around a year old and they maintained this hotel well.. really worth the visit.

So, there's this cafe called Cafe BLD if i'm not mistaken which serves buffet dinner. I'm a big eater, and I'm always with "generous" appetite lol. I can eat up to 6-7 meals per day #nojoke. First of all, I'd really like to compliment on the service by the waiters and waitresses here. DAMN FRIENDLY omg felt like home. And again, no weird stinky smell of the furniture.

So of cos, the first section I went to was the dessert area. I'm kinda disappointed to be honest cos they're so..... ordinary. lol. Nothing special lah but I sapu all the ice creamsssssssss cos the cakes were not appealing. Okay I'll let the pictures do the talking..

#toiletselfie

Actually I liked the place more than the food. Seriously the environment is so nice that you can just fall asleep while walking. lol. The bar next to the cafe was really nice though. can play snooker some more. hahaha. K lah that's all for now. Damn hungry omg gonna grab supper now. SEE YOU GUYS & TAKE CARE. x
PS: GUYS Gimme some ideas on what to blog about. I'm so out of topic that I might consider blogging about food ONLY in the future.

Hotel in Johor Blog: 11@Century Hotel, Johor Bahru - Travel ...

Posted: 05 Oct 2014 11:22 PM PDT

I've been to Johor quite number of times but most of the times, either I stayed at my friends' house or mainly just for stopover to Singapore. So when I about to go Johor for Legoland, I asked my sister, who is currently working in Singapore and she always went to Johor for weekend trip, asking her which hotel would she recommend me to stay and she suggested me this - 11@Century Hotel, Johor Bahru
11 @ Century Hotel 01

#1: Overview of 11@Century Hotel

As we reserved the room through Agoda.com, all we need to do was printed out the hotel reservation number and showed our identification card upon check-in. The check-in process was smooth and hassle-free and the next thing we know, we were given room card as well as breakfast coupon without any deposit needed.

11 @ Century Hotel 02

#2: Standard queen size room

The size of the room was moderately spacious and it looked very modern and descent. The room was pretty simple which equipped with a queen size bed, LCD flat screen, free WiFi internet access and in-room safety box. There is no mini bar, table and chair provided within the room and in case you need hairdryer, iron and ironing board, you need to request from the housekeeping or counter desk, which I found it's kinda troublesome.

11 @ Century Hotel 03

#3: Bathroom with standard toilet amenities provided

When we looked into the bathroom, we were quite surprised with the huge size of the bathroom. Like I mentioned above, there is no hairdryer within bathroom and they will provide you upon request.

11 @ Century Hotel 04

#4: Complimentary coffee and tea making facilities

The room was adequate comfort but there still need a room for improvement when comes to cleanliness. We spotted quite number of small cockroaches not just inside the room, but also in the bathroom. Well, of course we weren't afraid of those cockroaches but somehow felt kind disgusting seeing them crawling within the room.

11 @ Century Hotel 06

#5: Complimentary breakfast buffet

Throughout our stayed here, we were entitled for complimentary breakfast buffet every morning. The buffet spread was pretty simple with the range from Asian to western meals such toast bread, eggs, nasi lemak, fried noodle, baked bean and fruit juices.

11 @ Century Hotel 05

#6: The main plus point of this hotel was it located very near to KSL City Mall

Tip

If you plan to go to JB Sentral for entering Singapore Woodlands customs, it took less than 10 minute drive and the taxi fare mostly cost less than RM10.

Date Stayed: 24 January 2013 - 27 January 2013 (3 nights)

Rate We Paid : RM115.00 per night for a standard queen size room inclusive breakfast (Booked via Agoda.com)

Disclaimer:
This review is truly based on my own personal experience and is my genuine and honest opinion of this hotel, and that I have no personal or business relationship with this establishment.

JohorBahru-Photos: Stay at KSL Resort Hotel, Johor Bahru

Posted: 24 Nov 2014 12:49 AM PST

Went to stay at KSL Resort Hotel at Johor Bahru recently. The staff gave me a smoking room though I asked for a non smoking one. Anyway, I accepted it and there wasn't any cigarette smell in the room. Check in was fast and pleasant.

The superior room was clean and the king size bed was firm. Overall the room was clean except that the cleanliness of the bathroom could be better. The glass panel of the shower room deserve a thorough scrub and there were hairs on the bathroom floor. The rain shower was fantastic though.

Breakfast was good and there were sufficient spread of food available. But I saw people queuing up at the restaurant due to lack of tables and seats available. Overall it was an enjoyable stay at this hotel.
